The waiting game

The object of our affliction, er, affection. The object of our affliction, er, affection.Sheer exhaustion has kept me from posting lately. Between packing and researching contractors, we have been rather busy.

The mortgage paperwork has been signed, the homeowners’ insurance has been purchased and now… we wait. Some additional renegotiation occurred after the home inspection as more problems popped up than we were aware of – termites, chimney issues, a leaky toilet – and we were able to secure an even lower purchase price than originally bid. This is great news, but only means that the initial project list will be a bit longer than anticipated.

We are hoping for a June 1 closing date, but that is left in the hands of our very capable mortgage broker at this point. Hopefully, we will know more by the end of this week.

  1. It is a beautiful house. Good luck with everything. Leela and I are looking to buy a house. We are currently in a condo. It’s us, nessa (3 yrs), gabby (1 yr) and two cats. We’re a very cozy family.

  2. So nice of you to post, Justin. It does sound like you’ve got a cozy family there. We’re going to have the opposite: me, Jeremy and our cat living in a big, empty house.

And thanks for the compliment, but the house is nothing compared to what we have in store for it!
